I like Gail Simone (and, more importantly, her writing) an awful lot:

I remember that Gail was the one who did the interview in which Grayson confirmed what Nightwing/Tarantula was sex* and wasn't entirely consensual...
...and that Gail thought it was a great story.
As others have noted elsewhere, were the genders of the two characters reversed, the result would have been a horde of enraged fanboys and fangirls with torches and pitchforks.
Instead, we have the originator of the term 'Women in Refrigerators' slapping one of her peers on the back for a shitty, exploitative story with even shittier sexual politics.
Mind you, I still think Gail rocks...but not quite as much as I used to think she did.
*This interview took place after the issue containing the rape, but prior to the release of the issue with the supposed 'explanation' of what happened.
