Her Majesty's Special Forces vs. Dracula

Four scans from Captain Britain and MI13 #15:  the series ends, and our heroes face off with Dracula's invasion.

Not to go into too much detail, but Wisdom was playing a particularly elaborate gambit here, which basically succeeds, leading the vampire army into a trap.  As things fall apart, Dracula tries to make his escape, and is confronted by Black Knight and Excalibur.

I'm glad someone other than Brian got to deliver the coup de grace for once.

And so the day is saved, and everybody has somebody to walk off into the sunset with...

My thanks to the creative staff, for what was a very enjoyable run.  I look forward to more Marvel stuff from Cornell in the future (he's got that YA mini on the go, and an upcoming Black Widow mini as well); and, obviously, Leonard Kirk too.

I love Happy-end.
Now rename the book Excalibur´, start it again with Nr. 1, let Kurt Wagner join (and maybe Kitty and Rachel later) and we will all have nice things.

Yes, because new things that work must be replaced by old, tired and familiar things.

See, I enjoyed it because the cast were British? And I'm British? And there's a huge number of comics with American leads and very few with British leads and this one was very well written and made a statement against Marvel's ultra-gloomy DARRRK take and brought Hero back and it spoke to my demographic as a brown British person and it was worthy of my awe because it was just that good?

So 'Excalibur', a.k.a. Claremont's sloppy seconds, doesn't really compare.

Maybe I'm a little shallow, but Meggan really needs a new outfit.

(shouldn't her last name be Braddock too? They ARE married...)

But that is an awesome, awesome ending, and I well a few tears and grin a few grins.

Why didn't Dracula go for the Ebony Blade? With his might behind it he would have been able to hold his own against Excalibur.

Why did this have to end? This is one of the few non-cosmic series that's free from Dark Reign's taint.

Waitaminute, vampire army?, Dracula being a general and brilliant strategist,Dracula having a badass sword, calling people dogs. Oh great I had a similar idea for a fan fic and when I get around to writing it, people will think I am ripping off Cornell's idea.

While there were some interesting elements in this series, the Dane/Faiza buildup is terribly shallow and trite. Religion, race, and the Matter of Britain were handled with much greater depth 800 friggin' years ago in Parzival. Nor is Vlad Dracula's defeat written very well.
