I appreciate the sympathy--so rare these days--extended to Israeli Jewish victims of terror. That said, I think as written this would've worked better either as a prose piece or with art consisting of more than just ten panels of a TV set in profile. No, I'm not suggesting gore, but maybe images of the details mentioned in the script: backpacks, Spider-Man sheets, jeans, piano lessons, etc.
Of course, for that to work newspapers would have to print comic strips at larger than postage-stamp size, so in fairness I should cut Pastis some slack.
