Even if she did die, I don't really see it as the sort of "WiR" moment which tends to cause concern.
Aura was a target, not because she was a woman, but because she was a metahuman with magnetic powers. Repulse was targetting such men and women with equal malevolence, and given the F'd up gender politics given Repulse's true identity (A female disassociated personality of a male character, given form by the male characters powers and loathing him in particular) it's hard to read WHAT the sexual politics would have been
Killing a female character shouldn't automatically be off limits, it depends on how it's presented. This was sensational certainly.
Out of curiosity, how many magnetically powered characters of each gender does the DCU have?
Male - Dr Polaris and...? (Cosmic Boy, Magnetic Kid and Magno are all in the future, and the first Amazing Man was in the past)
Female - Magenta, Aura, Repulse
So the odds of a character Repulse targets being female is two to one! :)
