Titans #15
Spoilers, obviously.

This issue focuses on Tempest as he returns to Atlantis with such hits as "Woe my purple eyes!", "My parents are dead!" the Atlantean edition, and this gem:

Seriously, DC? Poor Garth.

Anyways, after an attempted murder (but only suicide) brought on by his Uncle Slizzath (with more purple-eyed angst!), Tempest goes on to see his bestest pal:

The issue pretty much ends with Tempest doing an Aquaman impression.

Surprisingly good issue.

I had surrendered all hope on anything Titans. But ended up loving this issue - the all-too-human Dick-Bats, Tempest... loved the follow up on this in Blackest Night #1 too ! Arthur Curry... RISE ! Who's the mermaid? Which run had the mermaid?

The Tempest mini by Phil Jimenez, which also has lots of zombies and was very very good.

See, Dick's too pretty to be covered up in the cowl. Yes, much better!

"Letifos" has pretty bling, but looks like she'll need a water-resistant band-aid every time she turns around.

I think we can all agree that Dick "fills out a costume" very nicely indeed.

Any issue with a "Did I mention Dick Grayson's a really good friend?" is immediately a favorite of mine.

Come home and hug it out, Tim!

Oh, what the fuck ever.

Seriously, Krul? Seriously? Fuck that. Dolphin and Cerdian were awesome enough that you didn't have to just kill them off.. If it was REALLY that important that you needed a single Garth, you could have just had her flake out or something. This could all just be a trick and it turns out there alive, but still, these are monthly comics. I wanted to buy Titans :/

Oh, look! SuperBats! Palate cleanser!

although i bleeve that Garth's last line is the best line ive heard all ever

Bruce wouldn't want Dick to be "just like him" if/when Dick became Batman. As I've said before, Bruce knows how screwed up he is. He's be happy (or as happy as he ever gets) that Dick could be Batman without being *like* Batman.

I suppose we can at least be thankful that Tempest didn't make a deal with Satan to wish away Dolphin and Cerdian so that he wouldn't grow old and die.

Am I the only one amused by the very last panel? '...how you filled out the costume' LOL. Makes him sound like a fangirl or something.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Tempest, now. Dolphin and son were just hangers-on that caused him to quit the Titans in the first place and basically go into the character freezer, so dropping a ton of rubble on them is probably the best thing to happen to Garth in years. Having him apparently take over as king, though? Ehhh, I could live without that, but God only knows whats going to be done to him in Blackest Night.

I'll go off tangent a little...I just can't stand that bubble-Batmobile...it's like the Tumbler's adorable baby brother, which is not what a Batmobile should look like imo.

"She is an Atlantean, but she never called Atlantis home before."

So many comments I could make on that. But I won't, and instead I'll give a AWWW to the scene between Dick and Garth. -> AWWW.

Surely DC realizes what they're writing with that last panel, right?

And I agree with Garth; talking one's feelings out to Batman, while it's been known to happen, is strange hilarious. I hope DC grabs the opportunity to write more of this.

Should I mention that apparently the way to get people to not really notice that a female character has been offed purely for its affect on a guy is to immediately have said guy imply that he enjoys the sight of another man's ass in tights?

I prolly shouldn't mention that, huh?

OMG, GARTH! FINALLY! I was afraid DC had forgotten he existed.

Dolphin and the baby are DEAD?! *RAGE* Okay, this was annoying enough when it was Donna's family, but twice is too much. KILLING BABIES IS NOT OKAY, DC! It tears a parent apart FOREVER. The Titans have enough angst on any day of the week without this shit. And Dolphin was an awesome character in her own right who DID NOT DESERVE TO BE FRIDGED!

They had better turn out to be alive later on!

Dickie! Titans isn't Titans without you. And I love, love, love that he's finally completely assured of what he meant to Bruce. "He would have been proud no matter what." That there is every single insecurity he had about his place in Bruce's life washed away.

Aw, don't worry Dickie. You're only holding onto the cowl so you can it over to Tim once he grows a few more inches. You are a creature of the light and the only true Nightwing, no matter what Editorial Mandate claims.

I'm glad Arthur's gone. Worst father figure ever.

Who's writing this again?

While my feelings on the subject are largely academic, as I've no real intention of reading it anyway, Dick being in the Titans right now would just be... weird.

Batman should not be in the Teen Titans, even if they've dropped the "Teen" off of it.

Sometimes people have to outgrow certain things, whether they want to or not. While he certainly doesn't have to outgrow the friendships, I really think that if they're going to give this Dick-as-Batman thing a shot (though who knows if it'll wind up just being "filler", as it likely will), maybe it's time for him to outgrow the concept of eternally returning to the big T-shaped tower and grow into what we know he can do, head up to the big... something-shaped... moon complex... thing.

Dolphin's death saddens me. She was a cool character, and I'll miss her.
Nice to see that Garth and Dick are still good friends.
And I love that the DCU has ACTUAL MERMAIDS. In continuity, no less. There is hope.

Still totally unnecessary though, although the Garth/Dick scene is just full of win.

Garth may be the most crapped-on character in DC.

Now, I have never been a fan of Dolphin, particularly as she was portrayed in the Titans comic, but killing Cerdian?

(Oh, and DC? Have you figured out what gender Cerdian was yet? He was male at first, then female during Infinite Crisis... did Superboy punch time so hard Cerdian's Y chromosome fell off?)

However, the one thing I will say that's a potential benefit here? I keep hoping they bring Tula back in Blackest Night. That would be awesome.

Hmph.

Helena Kyle. Sin. Cerdian.

We get it DC: you don't like having superheroes with babies/young children.

Next it'll be Lian Harper, or the West twins.

But hey, at least Donna now has someone to talk to re: EPIC DEAD BABY TRAUMA!

The sympathy sex will be awesome.

They wouldn't be half-bad together-- both royalty, both struggling to emerge from their mentors' shadow, both widowed and made childless-- and, given their strength levels, they wouldn't have to hold back when making The Beast with Two Backs.

The Westlets have a chance because you can have them any age you want and say the Speed Force did it. Lian, though, I'm getting seriously worried for. Maybe she can drop into a fast-time dimension and come back a week later fifteen years older?
