Macendale love? Don't mind if I do!
I've been lurking for ages, but I can't pass up the chance to give love for my favorite Hobgoblin. Most people seem to like Rod best, but I grew up on a stack of old eighties Spider-Man comics, so the only Hobgoblin I ever knew for years was Jason Macendale. He was always my favorite villains, simply because he seemed to be full of so much more personality than the other Spidey villains, and his goals were so refreshingly mundane: power, power, power.

That, and he pulled stunts like this all the time.

Our story begins with Jason frantically searching the rubble of the Osborn Chemical Company, which had recently been torn down because it had attacked both its workers and Spider-Man. Spidey has his suspicions as to who's to blame...

Free of distractions, Macendale flies off, leaving a very baffled Spider-Man to beat up a concrete-man. Having lost the man he wanted to question, Peter returns to Queens for a pleasant meal with Aunt May and Mary Jane (and Mary Jane's cousin, Kristy). However, something's troubling him.

Harry is not doing so well, to say the least. And his day's about to get worse.

There follows a fight, involving Macendale keeping Spidey on the run while badmouthing Ned Leeds. Spider-Man gets a faceful of tear gas and has to take cover in Harry's pool, when...

And that's the end of that. Unless...

Oh dear.
