Look, I'll just say this. As much as I criticize Johns, and will continue to, it's criticism that comes from actually following him. Which is to say his work keeps me doing so, which in itself says something. I'm interested to see what he does next in the same way as back when Moore was doing mainstream work.(wow, think of it, a time when you had Alan Moore every month)
And I also like the fact that he picked up on an aspect of GL's history most have ignored: that Moore did plenty of work on GL-related material right at the same time he was reinventing SWAMP THING. The book has that, but nobody, really, till Johns USED it, and Moore left all these seeds just lying about.
And finally: I'm reading goddamn Green Lantern. That in itself says it all. Johns may not be perfect but he certainly tries harder than a lot of others. (though I like Tomasi as well--those last few issues of GLC were creepy)
