By "all him," I mean...well, he took personal control of war planning, which was, from a German perspective, really stupid, because he was NO military genius. He had no taste for the nuts and bolts of, well, anything. (probably why he was a mediocre artist--he only did the minimum required of him whenever he could. Not well-known: Hitler was very lazy) He was all about the grand Wagnerian sweep of it all. That was his taste. That and the repulsive ideology.
But war is not about ideology, it's ABOUT the nuts and bolts. It's about being flexible. He wasn't that either. Most of all, besides that it was an evil fucking thing to do, the Holocaust was also stupid: had he not wasted resources on that, Hitler might well have had Europe and much of Russia. His generals, the competent ones of which would rather have held all Europe under German control with or without Jews, knew this. So he would get rid of them.
And then when they lost, the selfish little child decreed "national death," the destruction of Germany's resources, industry, and infrastructure remaining, not just to deny it to the Allies but because Germany had failed him. Him.
Hitler's one of those rare things in history that actually seems more monstrous, alien and inhuman the closer you look and the more you know.
