I agree. On the other hand, we've just seen that such powers don't have to have madmen. I believe what we have seen recently was like what a remilitarized Germany with ordinary power-hungry leaders, not a madman who thinks of it as his grand art project, might have been like.
And people also forget that money had a lot to do with why Hitler gained power. It's just that those who backed him underestimated the monster they'd created, or enabled if you prefer. There were many, many steps at which he could have been stopped before he got the Special Powers, after which yes, it was all him.
All I'm saying is that Hitler was an example of what happens when the wrong things converge. Believe me, I'm fully aware of how evil he was; I've been fascinated by the Nazis(fascinated in the sense that they frighten the shit out of me and I want to recognize how such things come about) and read about them since I was EIGHT, for godsakes.
So you can imagine it was a fun 8 years for me just now!
