... and Jay Leno as Dan Dare.

The Ennis mini for Virgin was also pretty good.

Is the penultimate scan not loading or did you actually scan a blank page?

It's a blank page, the same blank page we see in the next page.

And every time I hear Morrison complain how dark comics have gotten and all that--which he was saying AT THE TIME--I look at this and think, "Wonder what Fred Hampson would have thought of the Mekon's device here and the manna thing."

Yes, I realize this is more about Morrison's disgust with Margaret Thatcher and what she did to England that Morrison's saying through Dare here. But still.

That administration cast a very long shadow across British comics (and their creators).

I know, Morrison would have argued that he didn't ruin dare, Dare is the British spirit that Thatcher corrupted, tortured and killed. And he'd have a point.

I suppose one has no business presenting national icons as anything but menacing in times when one's nation is that dark.

I'd say this Dare had more in common with the original than the 1980's 2000AD Cosmic Claw revamp which was space opera, but a lot more mundane.

In a medium that brought us Pepper Potts, you're asking this?

Colonel DRAKE!

Who else's mind immediately jumped to General Wayne telling Colonel Drake to lie back and think of England?
