Cry For Justice #4 cover

Photobucket

Its so pretty! There is so much I love, Freddy Freeman getting the centre in what is probably the best picture of him as Shazam ever , The symmetry, the whole workmanship with texture and expression is magnificent. Every single one of the Cry for Justice covers have been amazing, poster quality!

If it sounds like I'm in love, its because I am. More art at the source.

It's pretty and all, but I have a problem with Supergirl being the only one on the cover not posing heroically.

I thought of that but then neither in the atom, he's standing there like a lemon

But he's standing. He's not crouching like an ineffectual sex kitten.

Supergirl at least looks to be sensing a threat, atom just looks like he has caught the paparazzi (akso if congorilla bites down he's a goner)

...She's posing slightly to one side, arms propped out in front of her, head turned slightly, hair billowing fantastically behind her. That sir/ma'am, is not a "threat sensing" pose that is a "every bikini mag in the country" pose.

She's at least not showing her rear, as so many heroines are wont to do, so there's that. I like the line-up potentially. I will buy it until they screw it up.

"At least she's not showing her rear" is a back handed compliment if ever I heard one.

If Hal's ass were right there, you'd probably have other things on your mind, too.

The covers are nice, I suppose, but the interiors don't do much for me.

So...Freddy has powers still? Since Billy is no longer the Wizard Shazam II (which I actually liked), I thought he was depowered along with Mary, although this was never shown on screen.

I really hated that whole storyline in JSA, which was disappointing since that title is normally pretty strong. The Shazam mythology had a pretty good run with Freddy's quest and should have just been left alone.

Whoops, got on a bit of a soapbox there.

He got his powers from a bunch of other dudes, had to go on a quest and everything. When the Wizard left and depowered Billy and Mary, he said that Freddy was drawing his power from another source, but would get around to him for stealing his name.

Doh, you're right!

I thought that SHAZAM was made of the same dieties though...Zeus, the final one, being he Z. Hmm. As good a reason to reread that series as any.

Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achiles, Mercury

This isn't ongoing? It orignally was gonna be, wasn't it? Of course it was also originally supposed to start right after Final Crisis. I assume the creative team fell apart?

No, I'm pretty sure the creative team is still the same. This is just one of those titles that was announced, and hyped, and then pushed back, and then hyped, and then pushed back...

And then suddenly got turned into a mini-series. Like DiDio is some kind of angry elf and instead of shoes, he's screwing up comics.

As said above, it's not an ongoing any longer.

Partially due to the AWESOME that is the art (that can't sustain an ongoing). Or maybe it's because of Robinson being put on the main JLA title in October.

Supergirl could use a better bra, but otherwise this is gorgeous art. :O I could buy it just for that.

This is also the first time I've ever liked a picture of Captain Marvel (past or present).

Umm... she discovered that underneath a yellow sun she doesn't need one since she can selectively use her flight powers on specific body parts?

Or she can control her protective aura to mold around her breasts and form a support construct.

Or she took a look at Peej and decided that shopping for more bras would be a waste of time until puberty was finally through with her.

Or maybe the artist just likes referencing from pictures of nekked boobies.

But I want more news on Robinson's JSA: Year One idea that was going to be his Fantastic Magnus Opus Hardcover he started talking about 12 months ago...
