Interesting stuff. The way I've always viewed the Shah (eh, from my admittedly limited knowledge of him) is that he could have been a perfectly serviceable monarch, neither particularly good nor particularly bad, if only we occidentals could've left him the #$%& alone. This would seem to back that up - if Britain and the US hadn't been so greedy for oil in the first place, the Shah would've had no reason to become so paranoid and brutal, and Iran probably would've had a much different history. Also, anyone who has the guts to TACKLE HIS OWN ASSASSIN can't have been all bad.
