My thought was...

"OH YEAH!"

(What flavor of Kool-Aid would Wildcat be, anyway? And where's the 'shop?)

man, I didn't know you could hate a non-Beechen penned book so much

Wait, is she referencing "My So Called Life"? That show went on air in like, the late 90's, didn't it?

Like, yeah!!!

The writers are trying to keep BC's age down in her early 30's (my ass-umption), so she should reference that and other late 80's / early 90's stuff as a youth

It's not so much a bad pun as it is a hateful pun...

In that case, perhaps the ultimate solution to her uncontrolled screams hurting people's ears will be to like gag her with a spoon.

This trip to her childhood feels.. painful or something. Maybe the word I'm looking for is 'forced'. I.E. the So Called Life and grunge rock. Or possibly it's the toilet training reference.

You know Bluefall, it's a subtle thing with some vague clues, but I get the feeling that you might not be overly fond of Kreisberg's writing. No idea why you would dislike him systematically destroying Dinah, but I just can't shake the feeling that he's not your favorite author.

Take your crazy unfounded theories out of here! Clearly that is a howl of joy, a celebration of how much Bluefall loves Kreisberg's writing.

What's funny is that these pages don't even show the worst part of the issue.

The main plot is that everybody in Star City has lost the ability to hear. A decent writer might given us a few pages of wordless silence so that we can fit in with the scenario.

Kreisberg puts a thought panel in EVERY SINGLE PANEL. Often with multiple sentences in those panel, or multiple panels.

(OK, that's not true. Some panels have text messages, or written messages on chalkboards or paper.)

I'm sorry. There's just no way anyone can convince me Dinah Lance was a teenager watching "My So-Called Life."

Also: Why is there a high school Black Canary story running in this book, or one where she has dark hair?

On the one hand, Dinah's not a natural blonde. It used to be a wig, but she ditched that and started using dye in the first Birds Of Prey one-shot.

One the other hand, book? What book? I don't see a book here!

For a guy who has his eardrums blown out and, at the moment, has them covered he sure doesn't look to be having much in the way of hearing issues here.

You know a retcon is really annoying when they try to make the character your age.

So yes, this pisses me off too. DINAH IS NOT MY AGE AUGH

What a shitfest.

The scary part is that this now getting so bad, so stupid, so ridiculous (Wildcat jumping through the window here) that I thought for a minute I could switch from being simply repulsed by it to being oddly fascinated with it.

And then I remembered the solicit cover for September.

That cover was the reason I had this taken off my pull list...UGH

Worst part? In somebody elses hands *cough*Gail*cough* this could be quite entertaining and interesting. Wonder how she feals about all the work she did to make Canary worthy to be the JLA Chairwoman is being torn to pieces.

No, she did all that work so Black Canary could retire and be a stay at home mother. I don't believe BOP #100 ended with Canary going off to join the JLA.

I mean, losing your hearing would definitely suck, but is hearing > friendship?

Particularly considering, as [info]gargoylekitty mentioned upthread, that he doesn't actually seem to have lost his hearing in the first place, here.

Especially considering that he seems to be in class without any sort of an interpreter and is capable of hearing Dinah. WITH BANDAGES OVER HIS EARS.

But I guess both cases involve 100 decibel screaming or something.

That's ... well, it certainly doesn't make this less of a failure, but it makes it a hilarious failure. In that part.
