Batdickery and emoness has been present since the very beginning of the movement towards a darker Batman in the 80s. Look at Frank Miller.
Once again, let me repeat myself and say that Batman CAN have Robin and still maintain a darker, noir feel to it (look at some of their Golden Age adventures in Gotham's Chinatown, or the murder mysteries in movie studios. The 70s and 80s brought us darker Robin stories as well- e.g. "Robin Dies at Dawn" or the one with his weirdo vampire girlfriend).
One can hardly say that Robin ruined BTAS, considering that it was a fully Robin-centric episode that won the show its second Emmy. The Schumacher movies did not suck because of Robin, they sucked because of bad writing and poor direction. The comics lightened in tone in the 50s and 60s because of the social attitudes and events of the time, not because of a single character. Stop trying to blame a fictional character for the decisions of writers, editors, etc.
Honestly, though, I get it. You don't like Robin. He's my favorite comic book character in the entire world. It doesn't look like we're going to change one another's minds here.
