I'm no where near the military, but to my knowledge, if she's kicked out because of DADT, do they put that on the record? It's possible they just put in a honorable discharge and Kathy never mentioned it.
And I just had an idea--what if she isn't really "Kathy Kane?" Maybe Rucka'll tie 52 in saying that she adopted a socialite identity, ala The Shadow with Lamont Cranston. I dunno, just throwing it out there.
