My thoughts exactly! When did it go out of style to write really emotional moments other than *bitchgrowlbitchgrowl*? Your heroes can have a conversation over tea and cookies for once without snarling at each other and not looking unheroic (actually the opposite, because talking can be far more difficult than violence), and having any emotions at all besides anger/hate/jealousy doesn't make them "unmanly" or some such crap. (And even if it did, well, it's some sixty years too late to start compensating for the tights now.)
There's hardly anything more emotional than a reunion -- especially if the people it happens with have been freaking DEAD before! Writing lame reunion scenes like those after Stephs's return, and what we're likely in for with Kon is wasted potential.
