One Perfect Moment: Pied Piper
The other moments posted are awesome, but I picked this one for pure badass and style. Behold, the most epic "Fuck you!" ever delivered in comics, and one of the few bright spots in the load of crap that was Countdown.

So Piper's been having a very bad time throughout Countdown. Winds up energy-handcuffed to the Trickster, on the run for murder, and being hunted down by other rogues. And as if that weren't annoying enough, Trickster's being a homophobic jackass about the possibility that they might be killed together. Trickster finally gets over that bit, only to be shot full of holes by Deadshot as he attempts to protect Piper. Oh, and they're still handcuffed together. And a twenty-four hour self destruct countdown has been activated.

Still trying to find a way to survive, Piper ends up heading out into the desert, carrying, then dragging the corpse of his friend. He's seemingly rescued by a tunnel of light, only to find himself in the middle of an Apokolips that's being destroyed/assimilated by Brother Eye and the OMAC. Desaad pops up, imploring Piper to play the Anti-Life Equation on his flute and become a god, only to make the stupid, stupid mistake of revealing that all of the shit that's happened to Piper so far? Is his doing, in order to break Piper's will.

As OMAC is closing in and everything's falling apart, Desaad continues to harangue Piper to play the Anti-Life Equation. Piper seemingly gives in...

Hell, yeah.

	I agree, totally, totally awesome. But probably swept under the carpet of continuity, like the rest of Countdown ~~except for Trickster's death of course, because he was one of Giffen's boys.~~ Whereas taking down the Rogues is Johns's idea and therefore will stay canon until the end of time XD (Reply to this)

It WAS a stupid, stupid mistake - but that's Desaad for you. Cruel and sadistic beyond measure, really really skilled and inventive in his field of expertise, but not terribly long in the smarts and subtlety departments. You want a guy to wring the last drop of information out of a person in cruel and unusual ways, while giggling maniacally? Desaad's your man. You want to persuade someone to help save your planet? For cryin' out loud, do NOT get Desaad to do it - Kalibak, Verman Vundabar, ANYONE but Desaad. That's like getting an explosives expert to cook your chicken for you - the result is inevitably going to be a great big boom.
