Well, no, but that's an entirely different argument altogether. Superman (or rather Morrison) is specifically adressing the issue of superheroes that deliberately execute their villains.
Of course. My point is that they are behaving as though (and the writers as well) as though their hands are complately clean--after years of Grimdark.
Which is what I recall most about the story. It may have involved Gorilla Grod (An Ape), but his actions were in Grimdark mode and portrayed as scary, bruttal stuff IIRC. Argo, it wasn't The Brave and the Bold esq Gorilla's with Harpoons flying Pterrodactyls with Harpoon Guns out to rob people and build a devolution ray. This was Grod taking over a thirdworld hellhole and making it worse with a totaliterian regime.
