Yeah no. That's really, really bad Babs. Certainly nothing Puckett ever even hinted at that I can find (and Horrocks was right out of the gate with the Black Wind thing). Honestly I have no recollection of the line you mention anywhere in the series (though admittedly, it's been a while since I read the whole thing), and actually the fact that you quote it as "Cassie" rather than "Cass" makes me think that it's not from the series or from anyone who wrote Cass-Babs with any kind of accuracy at all, since all three series authors were pretty meticulous about using "Cass," and you only see "Cassie" pop up in, like, her disastrous cameo in Gail's BIRDS and the like. Anyway, it definitely wasn't any kind of through-theme of their relationship that Babs thought Cass dug Bruce, and if Horrocks brought it up more times than just here, it's just Horrocks being dumb, because that's, again, really bad Babs.
