Wow, that kid is a total dick.

And I had no idea McDuffie wrote these series. I loved them when I read them and even planned a few Damage Control posts ages ago, before we moved here.

He's not a dick, he's an idiot.

As they say - "Don't always ascribe to malice what is adequately explained by stupidity"

Looking it up, it seems it's ascribed to Robert Heinlein (though misassigned to the name Robert Hanlons). Details here

Heh, I just googled it and found the same wiki entry. =)

I've been trying to find my copy of this for two days now, so I'm delighted someone else founded it! :)

Love the "Do you have any photo ID?" line! :D

I think the coolest part of all this is discovering that Doom employs Damage Control on a em-regular basis. Sure he's a super-villain whose plans often destroy sizable chunks of Manhattan, but he's responsible about it.

I LOVE Damage Control.
The last mini was great.
We need more.

Well Doom is a man of honor.

He'll pay his bills.

And

He saw a chance to screw with them. It amused Doom greatly.

Doom knows that they'll never cash that check--they'll frame it.

Of course, this went so smoothly because Luke Cage taught Doom not to stiff black people years ago.

Photobucket

(Luke Cage, Hero for Hire 9. Strangely, that panel is a fairly succinct summary of the issue.)

BTW This seems to be set so it screens all replies, so no one who isn't the original poster can see any of them until they're manually okay by you. You might want to alter the screening setting.

While I could see Doom honorably paying the bill, I'm surprised he didn't kill the guy later for turning down his job offer.

A dead man can't change his mind, and why waste energy on a potentially useful employee of the future.

I miss the Ben/Sharon romance. Yeah, I'm not sure they could ever consummate it, but at least they weren't alone.

Um, for some reason you appear to have set all comments to this entry be screened. Is this intentional or by accident? We don't have any set rule on this, but I am curious.

Okay, since I've had no response I'll just assume that the comments being screened was an accident and I will unscreen the comments left here. If you have any concerns please let me or the other moderators know.

Thanks for unscreening - I messed up the settings somehow.

No worries. In future when you're creating a post or editing a post, there is a section at the bottom where it says "Comment screening:" and it gives you several options. If you just leave it as "Journal Default" it won't screen comments.

Actually, I see the Bank of Latveria having a fairly... limited selection of cheque styles - Reed Richards being beheaded, Reed Richards being burned at the stake, Reed Richards being put through the taffy-puller from hell, Reed Richards being torn apart by ravenous wolves... All done in flicker-book style, possibly in 3D! :)

Damage control = awesome. I like the obstructive henchman's joy at only being fired.

And his look of terror and very tiny "ah", especially in the first of those panels.

It has to be said, how stupid do you need to be to try and embezzle from Doctor Doom?

Always loved this issue. I think this is an entirely in character Doom and a great version.
