I think it's pointless to quibble about what kind of accoutrements Diana has. We fall into the same trap that misguided writers fall into when they think they'll revamp Diana and "get it right this time"
Its like they have a checklist in their minds. In order to do right by the character, she must have the red boots, the jet, the twirl, the tiara, the lasso, and bustier.
No more checklists. no more discussions about what gear and accessories she should have. Whatever happened to pinning her personality and figuring out what her inner voice sounds like? That's my major gripe against the Wonder Woman cartoon movie. You could see the checklist being marked off, but the character was all wrong.
If you really want to go back, Diana is probably WMM's tongue in cheek homage to Diana and Artemis in the roman and greek pantheons, with a little athena thrown in for good measure.
What are the characteristics of Athena, diana/artemis? Wisdom, competency in battle, clarity, compassion/dominion over nature etc. etc. As long as that's more or less held true to Diana, I don't care much what objects she carries with her.
