After much deliberation and hard thinking I have a reply! :D
all right, I've been trying to come up with a response to this for a while, and I think it is best summed up by a conversation you had with another member:
"I don't think for a moment Parker and Hotz are actually racist themselves...but in a way, that just shows how pernicious the second-hand passive absorption of racist imagery can be. It's worse than cigarette smoke!"
"Well put! Everyone's got a certain degree of internalized racism/sexism/homophobia that we're quite often unaware of. We don't know enough yet to say that Parker and Hotz are consciously anti-Arab, but. *shrug* "
You're right, I can't deny that this isn't a stereotype. I just don't like how everyone is turning their noses up at Parker. We've all done bad things that we (hopefully) regret. Looking back on the mistakes I've made in my life, I can't say "Golly, that Parker guy sure is a bad person!"
And don't feel bad about using wikipedia to back yourself up - I think that Wikipedia (though innacurrate at times) is part of the world-wide internet community's soul
