Good reasons like what, may I ask? Because in case you forgot, the Marvel Universe by and large revolves around New York City. That's where everything happens, that's where everyone who's anyone is. That means if the Panther is going to matter in the Marvel Universe, that's where he needs to be.
And to be clear on the race and nationality issue, what I mean by saying I don't care about them is that they're just a detail factor. I don't love him or hate him by his race. I don't judge him by it at all. And I don't think he should be judged that way by anyone.
What should matter about the character, and what should be the core of stories written about him, is how cool he is and the awesome and respectable and worthy things he does. His actions matter, him being a hero matters. I don't care that he's black. I'm neutral to his race. I care that he's a hero.
Stop pushing his race in my face and just let me cheer for him being awesome and kicking ass. Just like Panthro... everyone knew he was black, even if there wasn't a direct analog to human race in the show, we still knew. Yet, that wasn't what anyone talked about regarding the character. Instead, we talked about the time he threw the Thundertank, or he singlehandedly beat the leader of the enemy team despite that being a more appropriate feat for his own team leader. We talked about how he managed to be the smartest, strongest, AND the best fighter on the team and how nobody in their right mind would ever fuck with him. And we cheered him because he never talked about how awesome or badass he was, and it never went to his head. He just did his job and kicked way more than his share of ass, and didn't brag about it. He didn't have to tell, he showed.
That's what the Black Panther should be like.
PS: Your icon is awesome, and it's making me tempted to slash Panthro and Tigra now. *LOL*
