Something has seemed off about the Blank Hand Corps' designs all along, and I've finally figured out what it is:
The exposed flesh is trying to be all rotty and decaying and do what zombie-flesh is supposed to do, but the redesigned costumes for these characters are composed of stark black-and-white contrasts, with metallic gloss for emphasis, and crisply geometric lines and patterns.
It's like taking an Arthur Sudyam Marvel Zombies painting, and then paying Patrick Nagel to paint over it with new '80s-era triangular fashions for the characters. It just doesn't fit.
