I love hate how you managed to get every tag wrong when you posted this. I don't mean to be mean, but it bothers me how it doesn't even seem like you're trying to get them right. On a nicer note, I do really like her outfit in the preview clip. It's so purpley and awesome. I don't really see it as an outfit suited for Gotham City, but the Robin's costumes aren't, either, so what the hell. Let's have a pretty costume. (Reply to this) (Thread)

Loved the episode so much, I want Babyface to appear in DCU one day when they are over "Teh Dark1!". Loved Black Canary and Grundy too, but the highlight was Huntress badassing everyone and making Jaime a lovesick teen. Also, there is no point in ever creating a cartoon ever again now. Hehe, show Huntress was pretty different from comic Huntress. Now we know why Jaime has a girlfriend in comicland, otherwise all the spandex and females will distract him. Favorite scene Jaime: Batman, can I ask you a question? Batman: No Jaime: It's about girls. Batman: No. And at the end. Jim Lee's costume features the infamous "midriff window", and is slammed in a recent post. And understandably so, Huntress is a normal woman with no special protection against weapons, it's foolish to leave a gap in protection like that. This costume, with the V neck, is not much better. Whether the bad guys aim for the navel or for the cleavage, it's still bad news if one of them lands a hit on her exposed flesh. That's why I prefer the modern full-body suit for her, under the presumption it's armored. I'm also in favor of armor for the rest of the Bat-characters as well, liking Batman's movie look far more than the spandex one. Other characters who have more exotic means of protection can wear as little as they like, but the "just human" characters need all the help they can get. (Reply to this) (Parent)

I think it's because this version is a lot older and more classic, before the days where everything was realisticised (made up word) in Gotham. In modern comics the Lee suit doesn't fit and is just there so drooling artists can strip another good female character. Plus, atleast this version doesn't have the stupid exposed belly. I think the classic outfit respects both parents Selina comes from. Both Bats and Catwoman of earth 2 had a flair for the dramatic as well as function. I tend not to favor "fighter types" that go nuts for the poly-carbon blah-blah.This is slippery slope to asking why not have a jet pack or a full suit of Armour ( I'm thinking Night trasher here ) As the sensi says the best protection is not to be hit. And why not "a full suit of armor"? It works pretty well for the movie Batman. And while sure, characters like Conan or Red Sonja can get away with little to no armor because they rely on their skill with steel to protect them from enemy weapons, they don't exist in a world with guns. Skill doesn't trump bullets. And no matter how good one is, it only takes one lucky shot to an unprotected body to be the end of anyone. Body armor is a necessity for survival, plain and simple. Of course, that doesn't mean everyone suddenly becomes Iron Man --though I've long thought something like Batman's Kingdom Come armor would be awesome for him, just don't overpower it. That aside, there is a reason not to load everyone up with full plate. Body armor is always a trade-off, protection for encumberance. The tougher the armor, the heavier and more restrictive it is. Thus, a character like Catwoman wouldn't wear anything thicker than she has to, relying more on her stealth and agility and wearing just enough to stop an average round in case she gets tagged despite her best efforts. She'll never walk through gunfire and shrug it off, she'll never wear that much protection as it would slow her down too much. It's detrimental to her combat style to wear too much armor. It helps, fortunately, that comic book materials are available to make that balance a little easier to strike. For example, in Marvel SHIELD agent uniforms and some variants of the X-Men standard issue suits are made of materials that are no bulkier than the average spandex bodysuit and yet provide protection equivalent to modern kevlar. It's not unlikely at all to say that similar technology is available in the DCU, meaning you don't have to bulk a character up to protect them. That said, however, no material no matter how advanced is going to protect areas of the body it doesn't cover. So plunging V-necks and belly dancer navel windows and exposed thighs (femoral arteries are bad news when severed) are a bad idea for any character who relies on their costume to protect them. How? That V-neck certainly doesn't protect her heart or lungs, and the bare legs expose her femoral arteries and her hamstrings either of which would be devastating if cut. And that's presuming the material of the costume is at all protective. If it's merely spandex, it might as well be bare skin for all it will stop a weapon. That of course is frequently ignored by people that whine about how much skin an outfit exposes on the basis of "protection". If the costume is armored, yes it makes a difference how much it covers, but if not it literally makes no difference whatsoever. Standard spandex or lycra or what have you doesn't even give temperature protection, let alone anything else. For all practical purposes, someone in head to toe stretch cloth might as well be completely naked as far as protection is concerned. Armor stretch cloth does exist at least in Marvel, where it's called "Beta Cloth" and it's worn by SHIELD agents and others. Given the level of supertech available in the DCU it wouldn't be hard to imagine an equivalent exists there as well. But unless it's stated, it can't be presumed that the standard tights most heroes wear protect a damned thing no matter how much skin they cover. Combine that with the same level of whining about "protection" being made for characters who have armor skin or force fields or other forms if innate protection, and how the same arguments are almost never made about male characters no matter how many speedos or loincloths we see as costumes, and it becomes painfully apparant that the "protection" argument is a hollow mask for a completely different argument entirely.
