Shame that Destruction's Daughter is sort of no longer continuity. It provided a perfect springboard to get Cass out of the Batsuit. She walked back to Gotham thinking she couldn't be Batgirl anymore, she couldn't wear the Bat, because she was no longer sure that Batman's code was the right one for her. And it was completely organic, and left room for her to go a lot of different ways, including back to the Bat (eventually, and in a more mature and healthy way where she decides on it for herself instead of fixating on it out of desperation and psychological damage), or into a more Huntress-like role where she's still part of the family, but won't wear the symbol because she can't promise to always honor the code it implies... which would make her involvement in BftC much more interesting, because she'd want to honor Bruce's work by continuing it, and she would honor his code while she wore the Bat, and if that were no longer her code it would be a fun internal conflict for the duration of the crossover.
In the wake of Beechen, though, and in a company where she has no support, investment or advocate, swinging the pendulum as far the hell away from Evil!Cass as possible is probably the best course, even without the consideration that Cass-as-Batgirl is a buffer against Babsgirl returning. Give me reset, loss-of-character-growth Cass whose sole goal in life is to be Batman over loquacious-erratic-Batgirl-but-only-unless-someone-else-wants-it any damn day of the week.
