No. I never said you Owe it to Mark Waid to give Irredeemable a chance.
Even if you enjoyed 100% of everything Waid put out before Irredeemable, you would owe Waid nothing.
Nor does Waid owe you, however. If he wants to try something new, to branch out, to test his limits, He is welcome to try that.
Just as you are welcome to go "That doesn't interest me. I'll buy this thing by some other guy instead."
*BUT* If you do pay for something he is writing, then you ARE funding his learning curve. Because writers always are learning, even at the height of their careers.
