Eh, maybe it's because I tend to think of the passage of time in comics as a sequence of events on a flexible timeline and usually don't bother trying to ascribe dates or years to them. More;
Robin became Nightwing, Bruce met Talia, more stuff happened, Damian appears on the scene several years later...
Than
Robin became Nightwing 8 years ago, Bruce met Talia 7.5 years ago, Jason dies 3 or 4 years ago-wait, is that possible? 1 year for NML + 1.5 or so for for Bodyguard/Murderer/Fugitive + 0.5 for Knightfall= Why even bother?
I guess to me it doesn't seem worthwhile to bother trying to work out years or ages on a sliding timeline involving iconic characters. I tend to accept that Bruce is in his mid thirties, Tim is in his late teens, Dick is in his mid twenties, yadda, yadda...or however old the writers want to present them. I like the idea of it being more flexible, so eight versus ten years ago...I don't dwell on it.
Uh, obviously your mileage may vary.
Not going to argue Talia's hideous characterization.
