I have to say, if there's one problem I've had with Simone's run that isn't attributable primarily to editorial or other writers, it's the number of relationships and such that are introduced that we're expected to take at face value without much (or any) foundation in previous stories.
The reintroduced Etta is now Wonder Woman's closest friend and cool and useful blah blah blah, something that, really, hasn't a shred of backup in the last 20 years of comics. Giganta is apparently a Worthy Opponent of such history with the lead character to cause her to lose her cool in battle (this is over in ANA) and pummel her in a rage, when in reality she's fought Diana a couple of times, has never, on-panel, done much of anything, and has no motivation to speak of.
And now the solicit introduces us to the "reunited" "sensational team" of Wonder Woman and Black Canary, two characters who have, let us be honest, no history together whatsoever apart from a history of being in the same place (the JLA).
Now, all of these things are good ideas: Etta should be useful and a close friend, Giganta should be a major foe with strong connections to Diana, Diana and Dinah being in the same place so much should result in them being the ladies' answer to Superman and Batman...but in all cases, Simone basically is just asking us to act like this is how it's always been, which I don't think works particularly well.
