Poor Ben! So much more love for the big lug.

...one of the very few people you could pull that on and not injure horribly. OW.

Also, at first glance, it looked like a Looney Toons cartoon where Spidey somehow fit entirely in the lampshade.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw it that way XD

One of my favorite running gags from Marvel Two-In-One's glory days was that all the Thing wanted was some quiet time to read his books, and he just kept getting dragged into another damn team-up.

Ben, you've got skin MADE OF ROCK. It's not like a vampire's going to bite into you so easily.

Also, that novel was boring as hell.

It's a bit slow at first, but I think its one of the better vampire novels out there.

It's not so much that the Thing is worried about getting bitten by a vampire himself, he's deeply into the book and concerned about the characters.

I read it all. It sucked.

The Salem's Lot stories are good, but the main novel just dragged. :p

Not sure what you mean there, Salem's Lot IS a novel. What do you mean by the "stories"?

I'm guessing he means the subplots with the various people of 'Salem's Lot.

No, I mean the short stories based on the Salem's Lot area and history.

Stephen King published several short story books, and some of the stories dealt with Salem's Lot and Jerusalem's Lot (the original settlement).

I LIKED those. Those stories were what got me interested in Salem's Lot.

Needless to say, I was disappointed, to say the least.

Totally, I think Salem's Lot is easily one of King's top ten.

OK maybe because it's because I am woefully ignorant of pranks, but I have no idea what just happened. Can someone please explain the prank to me?

It's not so much a prank as it is a case of bad timing;
Ever-Lovin' Blue-Eyed Ben just happens to be reading a Stephen King novel when Spidey comes to ask him to take part in another Marvel Team-Up...
Then he swallows his cigar, which, according to Joe Quesada, didn't happen, because Marvel heroes don't use tobacco products.

But why are there ashtrays in Ben's apartment, Joe? Huh? WHY?

Well if it's not tobacco it must be something else that you light up and smoke.

Thanks for explaining this for me!

Well, he likes to have a snack handy when he's reading.

Yes, it's true, the Thing snacks on kittens. let's see how popular the FF would be if THAT little secret ever came out!

(Actually, I read it on wikipedia... I think it was last edited by someone with a Latverian ISP)

Oooh, this is followed by the two of them going into space and rescuing the Avengers from Thanos, isn't it? The rather awesome one. I remember that post on Old S-D. I'll have to see if I wrote the name of that post on anything, I want to see it again.

Smoking doesn't make you into a super-villain!

I like to imagine that's there's a smoker's lounge pocket dimension that Logan, Gambit, Ben, Pete Wisdom, Nick Fury, J. Jonah Jameson and all the rest go to light up.

Hahaha!

I have this somewhere and I was thinking about when I wrote my previous post!

Too True! As a smoker I am often pushed to doorways, yards and driveways, sidewalks and patios because of my awful, no good habit.

I side with Fury!
