I know! I haven't read the complete Countdown (yet), but I was going by what I'd heard of it and read in Under the Hood, and Outsiders, and Green Arrow, and Teen Titans, all of which make it vastly clear that Jason *is* *very* competent at researching, planning, information-gathering and running things. At no point in any of these storylines did I read Jason 'fail' inside the paramaters he'd drawn for his actions (except for the final confrontation of Under the Hood, of course).
Between all the titles Jason has appeared in, BftC holds the most resemblance to Nightwing OYL, and we don't really want to go there, do we?
Saying that Jason failed at being a good guy and that he's showing his true colours is completely illogical. It mixes Jason's definition of being a good guy - according to which he's pretty much the opposite of a failure - and the, well, non-murderous definition, according to which Jason does fail pretty hard. But it's ignoring both the character's logic and the facts as they stand in canon.
