I don't see why we need a new Batgirl in the first place - we've already got a perfectly good one as is. I mean, yes, messed up by editorial mandate, sure, but who isn't these days? She's popular, she's immediately recognizable, she's a respected part of the Bat-family - why does she need to be replaced? I'm not conservative when it comes to comics - I like change. Change is fine - it keeps things shaken up and interesting. But these days it seems like there's this vast appetite for novelty that demands constant, unrelenting change - if it doesn't elicit a gasp of shock every few pages, it doesn't hold water. For crying out loud, the original Batgirl held onto her title for, what - almost thirty years? And Cass has been around for, what, about ten, fifteen? She still has years of growing and changing left in her - she shouldn't be tossed aside for the new flavor of the month. It's maddening.
