Valhalla 3: Odins's bet

Odin's finds several potential great warriors, but always are there some crucial character flaw with them, that do that he can not use. So he decides with himself, to create a challenge that will draw heroes to him, instead of he comes to them.

The three warriors we see at last pages are first Balder then Loki and at last Thor. They have disguised themselves, so that they could fool Odin in believing in, that he had found three great warriors. They want him back at Valhalla, because Odins brothers have taken control of Valhalla in Odin's place, and they are rather incompetent rulers

The three warriors are of course also a bow to Kirby's Warrior Three

Scans and the fan translating are not mine.

Note to mods: the story is 54 pages long.

I love "Valhalla." It's a fun take on the old Norse myths... and one of the primary reasons why I could never really stand the Marvel Comics version of the Norse gods. A blonde, clean-shaven Thor who speaks pseudo-Shakespearian just isn't as much fun as a heavy-set, bearded redhead with a huge temper and sometimes childish attitude. Plus, carriage drawn by goats.

Yes,I had same reaction when I found Marvels Thor. But I have seen some cool pages here at scans-daily of Marvel Thor, but it can be hard to separate the characters in my head.

These are always fun, the droll dialogue contrasts so nicely with the tales of gods and heroes.

Heh heh, I love the Marvel reference on the last page. And the Lindworm bit is interesting - that's one Norse myth I hadn't heard of.
