Dark Reign: Hawkeye #1

What does everyone think about Norman here?

I'm thinking about how much I'd love to see him snap Bullseye's neck, if such a thing were possible. Other than that...Osborns do usually have a messed up perception of themselves.

ETA: Deleted and reposted due to typos. Arrgh.

I'm not surprised he sees himself that way.

Norman might also be a murderous psychopath, but I get his act here. He's being the "stern father." Sure, he also loves throwing civilians off of very tall objects, but he can't give Bullseye that relateable "in," or it invalidates his attempt at discipline.

I hope Dark Reign gives us a little more look to Norman like they suggest, that it really isn't Norman who's the cackling chaotic sociopath, it's his split personality. On the other hand, Norman is a scheming evil sociopath, and has been all along.

I can see no earthly reason why Osborne would allow a completely uncontrollable wildcard like Bullseye free reign. He'd either keep him sedated until he was actually needed for a killing spree, or would just have him killed to save a lot of fuss and bother. This just seems ridiculous.

yeah. the way he was keeping him in a cage and just throwing him at stuff on a short leash back in Thunderbolts made a lot more sense, pragmatically.

Although at this point, he's got a shortage of people he can trust with his underhanded strategies, he's surrounded by 'real' government officials and such. He may need Bullseye more now, as an agent who'll do his dark stuff, since he can't trust any of 'his' staff with it anymore.

Anyway, Bullseye used to be a pretty effective mercenary and assassin, until all that Daredevil/Elektra stuff. Maybe Norman is operating off an older view of Bullseye as someone who fundamentally can get the job done, even if he is a flashy weirdo.

Bullseye is a fine example of being able to take and put back the 'genie in the bottle'. Bullseye is a capable field asset "when on target", and keeping him close and "under leash" is a Machiavelan way of keeping other possible wild cards in line. Sure, you get headaches with the fiend, but dealing with him keeps a lot lesser headaches from happening.

Osborn is so convinced of his own authority that he expects Bullseye to follow his orders.

He just doesn't get that Bullseye doesn't cares. And that's why both are psychos.

Oh for God's sakes, Norman... What did you expect with Bullseye? The guy's got "fricking Psychotic Loose Cannon" on his Resume, for Pete's sakes!

What do they call that, megalomania? Or a messiah complex, maybe.

Saved the planet? Dude Norman, I think you need to stop laying off the meds. In fact med yourself into a coma will you -- or is Dark Regin all taking place in your head and you are in a coma? Oh please Marvel, I shall be ever so good if you do this. If SI and Civil War were all in Osborne's head? If you threw in House of M, I might set up a cult and worship some of you as gods*.

*Warren Ellis is already worshiped as a god, and of course would be the god above all gods in this scenario (I'm sure Stan Lee would understand). Joe Q, sorry, but you still won't get godhood, bring back Peter and MJ marriage and we'll talk.

I love this theory so much I could take it home and feed it chocolate cake.

I've got this gorgeous mental image of Norman Osbourne starting out as a cop in 1973, before beating the crap out of the scary test card girl and deciding he fancied a scenario with less awful wallpaper.

My other pets theory is similar.. Tony Stark never left the skrull ship in New Avengers: Illuminati. All of the last few years have been in Tony's head.

As far as I know, this is the first time that Bullseye's adamantium-reinforced skeleton has been referenced since it was introduced in Guardian Devil. However, I'm aware that I'm sorely lacking in information about Bullseye, not being a regular reader of Daredevil titles. Does anyone know whether A) Bullseye's adamantium was in fact introduced before Guardian Devil, or B) it's been mentioned between then and now?

He got the adamantium in DD #199, after he was paralyzed in DD #181.

Huh...that's a long time ago. In Guardian Devil, DD acts as if he'd only heard rumors of Bullseye's enhancement, but hadn't known for certain until Bullseye hit him. Surely they'd had contact between 199 and Guardian Devil...

The two panels of Norman seem to be about the difference between Goblin Norman and Norman the Evil Businessman.

(I agree with Bullseye about the rubberneckers. Most Marvel civilians are horrible monsters who ought to be killed.)

But I'm not at all interested in Norman trying to play superhero. He's just too contemptuous to make it fun. Bulls can be fun, but as he showed in the issue, he lacks the control to make it interesting long.

What's he doing in that fourth panel? Is he--oh shit, yes, it's true...

Bullseye is Revolver Ocelot.
