Lois: Trusting Wife
Since it seems to be Clois week I thought why not post a few funny pages from Superman #192. This occured during the whole Cir-El Supergirl debacle (though I do like the character herself). So let's have some fun shall we!

Ah Lois. Manages to even make a semi jab at the Amazon's maybe being lesbians. "How'd you get up here?" Nice try! Can't change this subject! A second capsule from Krypton? Impossible!

Among other things I love how she even manages to make Clark sound like he might be a pedophile.

Thanks to a super coffee (which actually is a major part of the story) Lois quickly get's over Cir-El. Who does Cir-El think her mom is if Clark's the dad?

The last panel gives me a chuckle every time. XD

And while unrelated Cir-El's first cover appearance reminds me of one of Tomorrow Woman's. Maybe they could bring them together as a duo one day! XD They even have enough of a passing resemblance.

Agh. That art is horrendous. Cir-El and Lois and Clark's expressions in particular seem to suffer.

And I don't like seeing Lois written like such a jealous bitch. The Lois I know would investigate her suspicions first, then approach Clark intelligently and analytically. Her spit-take is hilarious though.

Also... fifteen. Given the sliding timeline, have Clark and Lois even known each other fifteen years, much less been dating (forget married)? The hell kind of woman is insane enough to spaz over her man sleeping with someone else before they ever met? Certainly not Lois bloody Lane, the meritous equal mate of Superman. Be mad at him for not telling her he had a daughter, sure, but that's not even remotely what Lois is ranting about here, so. Bad, bad writing all around.

I'm wondering if Seagle shares the same distaste for superhero marriages expressed by his frequent writing partner, Joe Kelly ...

Aww, everybody hates McDaniel ;_;

I agree the guy should probably never draw tears, ever, but I really like his style otherwise. Very cartoony and dynamic.

What happened between Lois being several different kinds of bad person and her happily having coffee with her husband?

As I recall, the same thing that happened to EVERYONE'S characterization in this arc, since I seem to remember Lois and Clark both acting like they'd come down with a bad case of Chuck Austen.

*chuckle* I'm gonna have to start using that one.

Absolutely *nothing.*

She goes down onto the street, he follows her as Clark with flowers, she's all "don't follow me when I'm leaving you," he says "can we talk," she goes "okay, in there," and then suddenly they're in a coffee shop and Lois is being sane again.

Is it terrible that I want to see the scans? One of the things I love about s_d is the fact that we can ooh and ahh over the worst that comics have to offer.

I guess flowers are Lois's kryptonite!

Well, once she calmed down, she probably realized, "Hey, what the hell am I thinking? My husband is fucking SUPERMAN. He wouldn't cheat at shoots and ladders, never mind on me."

That's the way Superman should be. It's not always the way he is. (Don't read Legends of DCU 30-32, trust me.)

... y'know, I can think of a lot of reasons not to read "18th Letter," but the suggestion of Super-infidelity is not one of them. He does come across as kind of jealous, but that's a very different thing, and no worse than Diana's been portrayed as in reference to him.

SPOILING THE WHOLE ARC:

Okay, so that coffee she's drinking? Spiked with nanobots. It was some big Brainiac plot to turn people into Borg through their coffee. Insidious.

Cir-El, Traci Thirteen, and Natasha "Steel #4" Irons had a team-up in an one-shot called "Supergirls."

A one-shot? I think you just mean the Action Comics 808-810 three piece I believe.

Oh yeah, there was the three-parter, but I think there was a one-shot as well. However, the only part I've seen of it was the cover, with the three girls in a cuddle-pile.

I originally thought so too but since I can't find any info about it I'm inclined to believe it was just a pin up since it was an ad/pinup in the last of that three parter.

Wow, I don't like this, especially the hysterics. Ugh.

Wouldn't the coffee that Lois spit out in the last panel have dribbled out while she was yelling "Daddy?!" in the panel before that? Unless it came from her stomach, ew...

I assume the trauma of seeing Cir-El caused her to drink coffee between panels and then caused her to spit-take.
