One of the better previews I've read in a while, to be honest. I'm thrilled by the fact that, in the unfortunate absence of Nicola Scott, they have got a penciller who is nearly as good.

Anyway, this is great stuff, and I like the idea of what seems to be a 'downtime' issue after seven issues chockfull of nuttiness. With Scandal's party-stripper reappearing, however, does anyone think that Simone might have something planned beyond this one-off appearance? The idea that she reminds Scandal that much of Knockout might not just be a red herring - Given the state of the New Gods is a little all over the shop now (are they those homeless people still, or did we get some sort of a development on that during FC?), I wouldn't be surprised if Knockout's spirit was somehow hidden inside the girl.

Hey, if I'm right on this one, feel free to quote me when it's finally revealed, but Simone has kinda played this game before, with the mystery Batgirl in Birds of Prey, before we learned it was Charlie.

Given Didio's said no to using the Multiverse for a while, and hasn't shown much interest in the New Gods, beyond anything Morrison has planned, I really hope it is Knockout, but I doubt it. That said, Simone is one of DC's better writers, and could probably twist Didio's arm if she wanted to.

I would love it to be Knockout, frankly. But then, would she be a member of the Six? Their numbers are full, after all..

The Secret Six seldom actually has six people. It's kind of a running gag. And at least "seven" also starts with an "s," unlike "five." ^^

The thing with Kay seems a lot more definitive than the Batgirl tease, though. The clues are better. Consider: the first we hear of any of it is with the scene where we first meet Liana. Scandal has some kind of weird fugue where she perceives this random stripper-for-hire as her actual girlfriend; fugue!Knockout says "I might be a drunken delusion, or maybe, I'm actually Kay speaking through this woman because I'm a Goddamn New God and I spit in the face of death."

Second clue was the waiter in Jeanette's place: a total stranger who leaned down and warned Scandal of the impending attack in intimate terms, and then a moment later seemed like a completely different person who had no knowledge whatsoever of that warning.

With most other characters this would be meaningless, but that leads us to the third clue: this is all happening relatively concurrent with FINAL CRISIS, wherein Darkseid and his Apolalyptian ilk were bouncing around and possessing human bodies after their prior forms were taken out by the New God killer.

Knockout being one of said ilk, slain in the same way... it would not be especially difficult to believe that she simply chose not to be part of Darkseid's nonsense or recorporate with the rest of the New Gods at the end of FC, and instead is staying by her lover's side. My assumption is that Liana is an entirely third party, but Kay may be hitching a ride with her at the moment and subtly influencing her, or have left some influence on her when she was in control before (provided that was a legit possession).

I was under the impression the Secret Six did always have six members, actually. When we lost Parademon and Cheshire, we got Knockout and the Mad Hatter, and when we lost the Hatter, we got Harley Quinn. When Quinn left and Knockout died, we got Bane and Jeanette, so to me, it always seems a fairly solid six.

Not that I'm contesting that we shouldn't have Knockout back and it be a Secret Seven, of course. And, with everything you've pointed out, which is fairly subtle, but at the same time very promising, I don't think we even need cross our fingers to make sure we get her back.

As it is, I'm actually quite glad Morrison apparently decided Kay wasn't worth messing with, given she'd been handled better by Simone than the other New Gods have by him.

A few crates of red wine? That's someone else's idea of a good time, they should hang out.

I have a guilty fondness for the surprise stolen kiss.

I'm still mad at Lawton for breaking up an OTP that I was starting to form during Countdown...

You all KNOW who those dog collars are for, yes?

I fail, I can't guess why she would need twelve...? So weak! I'll have to add this to the pull list.

Ms. Simone, you never fail to make me smile.

I love Scandel's completely shocked look when she gets picked up and surprise-kissed! This issue gave me a little more than I needed to know about Ragdoll's sex life though...ew.

I do not know who the dog collars are for, no. Not really that fond of Jeannette either, but...Lawton...shooting her in the gut was probably not the best plan if you wanted to let her down easy.

And I blame Trekkies for creating slash which subsequently created us, myself.

Who could imagine more fun one can get paying just $2.99???!!!! This is the cheapest fun ever invented, something that really ROCKS!
Have you ever thought that the Secret Six is the most underrated comic out today? You know, I would be really glad to be a kind of octopus-man to enjoy reading eight copies at a time, I don't even mention how many sex toys I could hold! I can be a real sex-factory :D
