Harley Quinn being a badass
For my first post in the new place, and to celebrate the coming Gotham City Sirens series, here's one of the stars killing some deserving folks...

From Harley Quinn #28

Yeah, that's our Harley. Shame she'll never realize she could make it on her own, and possibly even out-do the Joker on sheer practicality (not that that's ever been the Joker's riff...).

Yeah but if she realized that, she wouldn't be Harley.
Her entire character is shaped by her dependence and devotion. Take that away and you have an entirely different character who just happens to be wearing Harley's spandex.

I like the scene, but somehow I'd have liked it better if she'd left the guys alive but thoroughly humiliated in some way. Not that Harley has anything against killing (if she did, hanging with the Joker would be a little... odd), but, I dunno, it just seems _funnier_ that way.

I've always hated that scene. Harley seemed completely out of character during Liberman's run and that scene was the breaking point for me. Why did he make Harley kill people with shurikens?!

The shuriken seem particularly uninspired for a character like Harley. It lacks schtick.

They should be pointy little Harley heads.

Agreed-- spiked or exploding jacks (as in the game with the metal pieces and the ball)would have been better

Shurikens and broody-grim-dark aside, Harley is drawn properly adorable here I have to say. ~rumples her hat-thing~ Awwww, who's a cyute widdle psychopathic therapist?

Also, I would comment on the bad-ass-ery of this scene but I just watched Charlie's Angels last night and UM CAN I SAY THEY THE RESEMBLANCE IS UNCANNY and I will never see Drew Barrymore again without imagining her as Harley and UM, WOW, THAT'S, UM, EXCELLENT.

I understand that Harley is more well known for being the more dependant one with Joker or Ivy but how come she is not allowed to have the spotlight?

Dini himself recently made a very interesting pronostication the other day and that Harley is playing by "different rules" now.

She's actually more capable and dangerous when she's away from the Joker, which has actually been most of the time since she's been in the DCU.

With Ivy, it's more a comedy team, with Ivy (and Holly) playing straight man (so to speak), the Hardy to Harley's Laurel, the Abbott to her Costello, the Martin to her Lewis, etc. And, of course, Batman's played that role with her. But that's for a later post... :)
