Very cool stuff, thanks for posting this. It's not quite up to the level of his work a few years later, but ALBERT is still refreshing and a delight. One thing I always liked was the underlying dilemma of a world where almost every living critter is sentient. What do they eat, if not each other? The fish in particular seem to object to being on the menu.
I don't know how to make the dialect clearer if you're having trouble with it. Maybe sounding it out in your head, or reading it out loud might help. The way these varmints talk (and confuse themselves) is a big part of POGO's appeal to me, perhaps it's just a question of being familiar with Southern speech.
