So how about them Incredibles...
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The first issue of the Incredibles comic book, written by Mark Waid and drawn by Marcio Takara, came out this week. This was its double-page splash.

The context is that the robotic villain Futurion has just detonated a bunch of devices throughout the Metroville Zoo, devices which are mutating the animal population there in some way.

I can't be the only one who feels the tiniest smidge of an urge to throw up upon seeing those dino-animals, right? Those freaks are disturbing.

But grossness of dinosaurizing future robot technology aside, this comic lives up to its adjective. Any fans of the movie should definitely check it out.

Saw previews of this up at deviantart a while back.

I, for one, and stoked this is finally out. I can't wait till a trade becomes available.

I also hope that it becomes an ongoing.

That's an awesome dino army. Anyone who thinks differently is a commie!

Those were my favorite dinos when I was growing up as a kid.

I know, can you imagine the money you could make off those things?

I mean, resurrecting dinosaurs is awesome enough, but splicing them with modern animals?

Imagine if they merged a stegosaurus with a hamster, or an ankylosaur with a turtle. You know what you'd get?

Only the most awesome fucking pets ever conceived!

Furbies are for pussies, give me....dinoanimals!

Furbies manage to be simultaneously frightening and annoying. A friend of mine had a little sister who was obsessed with her Furby, and anytime I was over at their house there was a constant barrage of "ayum!"

Anything that in any way involves the sentence fragment "and his dinosaur army" is automatically awesome.

I....I am freaked. My mind just....refuses to process that elephant/brontosarus hybrid. It's like I can see the elephant and the dinosaur, but can't reconile the two into one animal.

If I stare at it any longer my brain is going to start dribbling out my ear.

Yeah. Regular hybrids are one thing, but no eyes and a trunk that turns into another head?

Meh. As freaky hybrids go, these things have nothing on some of the Beast Wars Fuzors, especially the Predacons.

The only ones I'm familiar with are the ones on the show. None of those provoked in me the same primordial shock of wrongness as the ones here. Are there some freakier ones out there?

Oh, yeah. Silverbolt and Quickstrike were pretty normal (and awesome).

The real weirdos are Injector/Rartorarta, Sky Shadow/Drancron, Air Hammer, Noctorro, and Torca/Elephaorpha (actually, Torca looks freakier in bot mode, and beast mode - Elephaorpha's colours successfully make him look less cute).

Maybe it's either the angle or the pose, but Mrs. Incredible's booty seems sadly diminished.
