Scans from Jeff Smith's Shazam!: The Monster Society of Evil, probably most notable continuity-wise for making Captain Marvel and Billy Batson two separate personalities instead of Captain Marvel having Billy's consciousness. Thus marking the first occasion DC has retconned something to be less skeevy.

	Cap and Billy always used to have their own personalities and referred to each other in the third person. AFAIK It's only post-Crisis they've had Billy's personality be at the core of Cap. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	I'd also argue that they are THAT separate in this Shazam continuity, since Cap filters evrything through Billy's choices; Like showing up at school as Cap/Billy's "Dad" to sing Billy's praises and badmouth Mary. As a separate entity with the widsom of Solomon, Cap should have told Billy "No" to that, but doesn't. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	I'd need to recheck the issue but I'm pretty sure that as his "Dad" he lauds Billy to the skies, what a great kid he is etc, but doesn't do the same for Mary, explaining what a handful and troublemaker she can be. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	Because Jeff Smith took the opportunity to retell Billy's origin in a sorta kinda out-of-continuity tale (that is awesome x1000), and the Billy that's in or almost in his teenage years is currently appearing in Justice Society of America, a different title. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
