Funeral in Amestris

I just read the latest chapter of Fullmetal Alchemist (for more cliffhangers), and was reminded that I wanted to post this sad moment, courtesy of the ever bad-ass and hot Roy Mustang.

Back story: Roy Mustang's best friend Maes Hughes is killed by the bad guys when he uncovers their government's conspiracy. After the funeral...

Yup, those tears are manly tears. M-A-N-L-Y.

Yeah, the saddest part was earlier when Hues daughter was getting upset that they were putting her daddy in the ground while he was asleep *lip quivers*

Then when Bradley is revealed as a Homunculus, he tells Mustang that he was pissed at the little kid for breaking the silence at the funeral. That is one stone cold bastard right there.

It's entirely possible he's lying to get Mustang wound up a bit, though. There are a lot of signs emerging by that point that Bradley's a lot more human than his fellow Homonoculi.

Most notably that he stresses that while his name, career, and child were chosen for him, he chose his wife.

Although to go by her comments in the manga at one point, she chose him!

...but still ruthless, nonetheless, as seen in the latest chapter.

Sadly, I can't afford to buy manga (or other comics) until at least the summer, due to school. I've gotta save what money I can and make do with what's posted here. So I dunno what's happened since they encountered Sloth.

I get my fix off onemanga, bad comic reader that I am. My only justification is that there is little lost to translation in scanlations as compared to the books commercially released.

My problem is the stuff I really wanna read is in untranslated French, and nobody's scanlating any of it. Spirou, Navis, Belladonne, Alary's new version of Sinbad, etc. All fantastic work that I'd love to read, but the language barrier, eh...

Is the series wrapping up? I followed it for a while, then decided to catch up when it was finished, easier to keep track.

They've gotten all the pieces in place and the big epic battle going, so I don't see this going too many more chapters without ending fatigue setting in.

Yep, it's finishing up. And yup, it'll be easier to follow it once it finishes. Arakawa-sensei makes mean cliffhangers. The last one wasn't so good for my heart. :(

This moment was super emotional in the current series. Anyone interested should really check it out, it's following the manga a lot more than the first one, and it keeps getting better.

Yep. Right with you, Roy. It's totally raining here too. In front of my computer. Indoors. Very peculiar localized weather sysWAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Huuuuuuuuuughes. :'-(

And in the anime, they gave the goofy SOB more screentime so you had the chance to get MORE attached before this happened and wahuhuhuhaaaaaRAIN.

Wait, the first or second anime? Nevertheless, both made me cry. :(

This moment gets me every time.

Mostly because Hughes is my favourite character in the world ever, bar none and also because his friendship with Roy was so beautiful.
