On the other hand in the Lupin-verse the laws of nature seem to be optional.
They actually played with that in the latest TV Special.
Fujiko and a princess are escaping, and at one point Fujiko shoots at the chasing car and gets it to fall down into a canal. It definitely looks like the guys in the car would at the very least be badly hurt, most likely dead.
The princess freaks out, "did you kill them??" but Fujiko cheerfully replies "oh, please, I'm not that bad!"
And the camera shows the guys, completely unharmed, squatting on the floating car XD
Besides, the first series (known as "Lupin With The Green Jacket") is more similar to the manga than all the other subsequent series, so Lupin is pretty ruthless. But from the second series onwards (when he wears the red jacket) he is nicer.
Many Lupin fans actually prefer the first series because it's more serius, they feel Lupin was tamed down after that. Personally, I much prefer the crazy and charming Red Jacket!series.
