I loved this mini series, mostly because it was inspired by the equally cool Micah Stormwatch series that was being published at the time. I giess it took a while for the stink of his lie to come off the concept, even though it was set in DC.

Looking at that last issue, it's kind a shame they went with a whole new magic kingdom in Superman's Earth vs. Krypton plot. I'd think that creatures from hell work better than your standard Orcs as cannon fodder. Though I'd still lost as to why that conflict needs a magical kingdom...

Also, fun fact. There was an awesome fanfic with Batman vs. President Luthor where the Human Defense League was revealed to have actually been created to fight metahumans, as evidenced by their emphasize on infantry as opposed to space ships and weapons platforms. Awesome fic, with link below.
