I wasn't entirely certain, but I wasn't discounting the possibility.
It bothers me when I see people saying that Babs shouldn't be in a wheelchair, because it often sounds like "disabled people shouldn't get representation in comics/fiction" and when someone says "____ shouldn't get representation in comics/fiction" usually the underlying message is "I don't want to see/hear about/deal with/acknowledge the existence of ____ in real life, so get it out of my escapism, kthx", and that pisses me off.
It was presumptuous and probably rude of me to imply that that is what you meant here. What I am slowly, slowly getting through my skull here is that the crux of your problem with Babs being in a wheelchair is that in canon she says she wants to walk again, but won't actively go after the medicine/tech to make that happen. (And then you confuse Gail Simone by likening Oracle to other fictional characters to support your argument.) That about right?
Perhaps I should have shut up 20 comments ago or so, but I've got a part of me that likes to argue, a part that likes to have my meaning understood, and a part that's socialized to like harmony and wants to get along with everyone. All of that factoring in here, and that usually ends up with me not walking away from a conversation when perhaps I should. I'm sorry if I've been kind of dense or jerk-ish to you in this thread.
But, I do think I finally have, after many discussions over time, a better understanding of your point about Oracle, even if I do enjoy the bulk of Gail Simone's writing of her. (I am admittedly kind of a slow learner sometimes, which is partly why I enjoy reading about fictional characters like Oracle who aren't.)
