Bruce doesn't have the healthiest nightmares.
Though it is nice to see that someone writing S/B is a Bat/Cat shipper for once!

It's an unspoken rule of S/B that any version of Catwoman - even the half-Brainiac one or the tiny DCU one - instantly falls in love with Batman. Hadn't you noticed?

also in the Absolute Power run (I only own the trade so I'm unsure of the actual issues) Selena was Bruce's paramour.

silly typos!

Ehhh, never put much stock in Loeb's run (or bothered following the title until long after he left)

True, while Michael Green wrote Selina's side of it that way, he never showed any reciprocation on Bruce's part. He was too busy heavily pushing Bruce/Zatanna.

See, I actually read this as Alfred's nightmare, the kind you have when you do something without wanting to.

These are nice bats, better than the bats in most comics. I'd like to see this artist draw the Man-Bat.

Since Richard (Who I assume is Selina and Bruce's son in this nightmare... when everyone knows only Baby!Terry is the REAL son of Bruce and Selina) appears to be about 11, what sort of academy would he be graduating from?

Elementary/primary school? Sometimes they have graduation ceremonies to make the kids feel special.

Also, Bruce's happy imaginary family there is interesting, being married to Selina, Dick a (their?) young child, and Thomas and Martha still living.

This really creeped me out. Not so much Alfred, although yes, that's creepy. Or the scenario itself, also very creepy. It's the little touches.

The bacon looking like a little bat shape. Selina's sunglasses.
and most of all, in that first page, smiling Martha. Wearing her pearls.

Why are the sunglasses weird? Are they associated with her bad girl, Big Score-type days?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]mysteryfan
2009-10-31 12:46 pm UTC (link)
It's not that I think they're weird, I just like the fact that here she is in Bruce's dream/nightmare sitting at a breakfast table with something (the sunglasses) to represent her masked persona.

It was the absolute cutest part of the whole issue. Although, I guess it isn't hard to out-cute the Joker killing a car full of clowns or the Kents dieing in a plane crash.

Uh. Damn. That's one hell of a nightmare, all right. I do like the little bat saying 'welcome back!' in a friendly fashion, though. See, if this were MY dream, it would be immediately derailed by that little bat. We'd strike up a friendly conversation, I'd forget immediately about the scene of horror in front of me (Alfred, meanwhile, would probably be waving frantically in the background trying to get my attention) and either me and the bat would go off on a happy adventure involving going to a bookstore, finding the perfect books that I've always wanted, then unwisely putting them down and losing them again (an irritating dream I have far too often), in which case it would no longer be a nightmare, or the bat would gain my confidence, go to whisper sweet nothing in my ear, then turn into an enormous bulldog-faced monster and bite my head off, in which case, it'd still be a nightmare. Then again, I'm weird. Then again then again, so is Batman. Try talking to the little bat, Batman - it can't hurt.
