When did they make the conscious effort to rid the world of fugly Namor?

He's not fugly! Just drawn by Kirby!

Let's have no talk of fugly Namors until you've seen some All-Winners Comics:

http://www.coverbrowser.com/covers/all-winners-comics

One of these, issue #19, is one of the all-time great covers of Timely/Marvel history, but that Namor… (shudders)

Oh dear lord some of those are terrifying. Can we get some sexy Namor eye-candy to act as brain bleach here?

Hm, I'd go more Robert Englund, the Freddy Kruger guy.

I've never understood some Golden age titles. I know that comic titles like that were common back in the GA, but I'll never claim to understand them.

Wow. They could never get Cap's shield right either. Sometimes it was tiny. Sometimes it was round. Sometimes it was yolk shaped and the colors on that thing. Geez.

I don't think he looks fugly so much as half-human, which is, y'know, what he is.

The stack of three is unblocked and there's no way to have set up both of the possible wins last turn.

Some genius he is.

Ah, but you're only seeing the three dimensional extension of Connect-9, where you have to arrange a line of 9 counters aligned in 4 dimensions simultaneously. (The above icon represents the standard opening move for two players)

It's possible, but it would mean that Doom is a raging moron.

Reed's last turn, he put in the third one of the vertical stack. Doom then decided to put his piece in the column Reed is about to put his piece on top of.

-Someone- here does not have the IQ they claim to.

Nah, He's just been yelling every time Reed blocked one of his moves or won, and since they are now playing game 2343 (Best 2340 out of 4679, and Doom has won three games so far.), His voice is getting kind of tired.

*dammit I had a great pun then forgot it*

How about Hank Pym suddenly comes in and accidentally knocks over the game board and both Reed and Doom goes stir crazy and screams "PYYYYYYYYYYYMMMMM"?

[info]deepspaceartist
2009-10-22 04:12 pm UTC (link)
Isn't stir crazy what happens when you're in a confined space for a long period of time, like cabin fever?

And anyways, Reed wouldn't yell. He'd calmly tell Hank "It's on, bitch."

Reed and Doom in the same room together, considering how much they dislike one another, 2 seconds of them alone and not competing for something is enough to drive them both nuts.

"It's on, bitch."

Then the next day Hank walks into his room to find.... (I'll leave that to you)

Heh. I have conversations like this all the time with people in meatspace. It usually tends to get me odd looks, since I tend to imitate the voice of the character when talking about their dialog. It's really fun in conversations about Doom though.

[info]yaseen101

Yeah, Doom is loads of fun especially when you imitate him. Though I'm still working on these cracky discussions thing. I once had this vague idea for a Dr. Doom sitcom fan fic involving lots of wacky hijinks in Latervia with the FF (excluding Reed) being guest stars and such.

[info]deepspaceartist
2009-10-23 03:54 pm UTC (link)
That does sound great, but I think the Cabal members would be better choices for the supporting cast, since they are also villains (except Emma and Namor) and have recently accociated with Doom. Perhaps the FF could be the annoying next-door neighbors?

That's a great idea! Though I'm already working on another fan fic, it's a series so it will take a while before I can seriously work on a Doom sit-com.

Man, that second picture brings back memories.

That was my FIRST Marvel comic, back when I was a kid. (Yep, I'm that old.)

My first Marvel comic, and I was introduced to the Fantastic Four---AND Sub-Mariner--AND Doctor Doom---all in the same comic.

I was a goner, from then on.

Jimmy had his moments. The worst of the Showcase Presents that I'm reading is still Aquaman. Just... fail. I mean, most of the time the Jimmy Olsen ones are physically painful, but sometimes they get pretty epic.

Or funny. And at least Jimmy had Curt Swan art much of the time in the early sixties. Not dissing Ramona Fradon, who was great, but Curt Swan was even better in his heyday.

And of course, there's the truly cracktastic, like Giant Tutle Olsen.
