The Magneto and Rogue Affair Uncanny X-Men #269, + 274-275 Dial Uppers Beware!
With all the chatter over the X-Men Legacy #232 cover involving the pair in the X-Men Solicitations thread, I remained silent and decided to do some scanning. Namely of the three issues where the relationship happened (Uncanny X-Men #269, #274-275).
Though if people do wish for more I be happy to dig through and reopen X-Men #1-3 where they met again, AoA when the alternate universe pair became much more than an affair but full blown relationship, and Magneto War (along with Magneto Rex which until January, closed the book on the two meeting). Plus, even if it wasn't him in the end I'm also willing to scan and pull up the Joseph and Rogue moment in dang I'm blanking on the issue #, but I know I have cause it was one of my favorite comics (largely because of the moment between them and the focus on Cannonball who fights Gladiator in the issue). Anyway, it has the two a top the World Trade Center and Joey gives Rogue a great Christmas present.
*ahem* So yeah.. if you cannot tell by now I kinda dug the duo. I probably blame the fact when I came into comics fully it interested me of Rogue kissing Magneto in the Fatal Attractions storyline and then him tossing her away, reminded a little of what could have been between the two. So enough of my babble onto the actual scans.
It all starts in #269 with Rogue coming out of the Siege Perilous actually the better of the others who went through it (Havok ended up in Genosha, Psylocke in Japan and that whole new body mess, and Mastermold/Nimrod became Bastion). I think I might be missing somebody maybe Storm but I never collected those issues so I cannot say what happened or what happened to them. Anyway, that's a mess onto itself. Rogue returns to the Outback base but finds it under new ownership, the Reavers and Lady Deathstrike who proceed to kill her. However, Ms. Marvel show's up wanting a piece of Rogue herself (it has to do with the Seige Perilous splitting the two personas and thus how "Carol" got her freedom). Rogue escapes both groups by locking lips with Gateway and porting the hell out of there.
She ends up here:
Carol goes a searching for Rogue and tries Muir Island. She finds the Shadow King there instead. Mind rape a happens.
We pick up with the two in #274 given two issues are devoted to mega X-Event (X-Tinction Agenda) and #272 devoted to getting the X-Men into space to find Prof. X. Back to #274 where we're given an up to date on the current events in the Savage Land via Mags:
So Mags goes into battle taking on Zaladane. Things don't work well for him:
Fury show's up with some commandos (Russiana, not Howling kind) and saves Magneto, Rogue, and Ka-Zar. Afterwards, the three forces talk however again like I said Nick's with some Russians and one of whom has a past with Max.
#275 continues with their quest to stop Zaladane (the issue was double sized thus more scans). As expected the Russian from above betrays Mags gunning him in the back. It isn't soon after that Zaladane's forces bring the choppers holding the remainder of the attack force down. So much for that counter offensive. Honestly, you can't help but feel for the poor dude. Still, the dude then sides with Zaladane bringing Mags to her.
Rogue to the rescue!
I got nothing after all that page above. Just awesome.
