I love Ray Bradbury. He's stories are always just so interesting, no matter what they are about. I gotta say, I don't really feel bad for the guy, but I really feel bad for his new wife.

Husband: Hey sweetie, why don't we take our honeymoon at the place where my one true love, who I am completely obsessed with, drowned ten years ago?
Wife: D:

Poor thing.

I don't think I've ever laughed that hard at an emoticon! It conveys volumes.

I have to say, Ray Bradbury's stories work REALLY WELL in comics adaptations - in EC Comics, anyway. There are some stories which feel bastardized when transferred to another medium, but his words are strong enough to survive the journey.
And damn - poor guy. Imagine finding your one, true love when you're just on the verge of adolescence, and then losing her, and knowing you'll never find another - not really, not to compare with the first one. That's tragedy for you.

I remember reading this for the first time both in text form and in comics form. I love it when they adapt Ray Bradbury stories!

Lifegaurd seems pretty casual about finding the body of a dead kid.

The panel with "[he] kept looking at me for long time and couldn't speak" with "She's...dead." indicates otherwise.

It seems he misses his youth and innocence more than the actual girl. Notice how she has no lines and that he first notices that she is "still small"? This story is not true love lost but childhood lost.
