Fables #89
It's Part 3 of the "Witches" story arc, but this issue Bufkin steals the show.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Baba Yaga and the blue Djinn are loose in the Business Office of the Woodland Building, freed by Mister Dark, and Bufkin's trapped there with them. So what's a monkey to do when he's trapped in a sealed building with two insanely powerful monsters?

(The Djinn has the raw power to leave the office, but he's been a slave inside his bottle for so long that he's no longer skilled at using his magic for his own benefit rather than in service to another. It's like a left-handed person trying to write with his right.)

Cool. Maybe Fablestown should actually be Bufkinville after all.

While I thought that Bufkin would trick the Djinn and Baba Yaga to defeat each other, this is WAY better.

When Willingham is on, he's on. This arc has been one of the best ones so far (or at least, in a looong while) and it's only been 3 issues so far.

Man, I love Fables. Great idea, better plots. I liked what I saw of Buffkin before, a snarky, know-it-all flying monkey. and now he finally gets his chance to shine! requests to see how this ends? B)

This issue just came out today, and the arc does not finish until December. However, stuff has been posted from all three issues of this arc so far (I think) because it's just that awesome. So you'll probably see how it ends on here (unless you choose the buy the issues... unless you read it in trades).

All I can say is that is one badass alcoholic formerly poop throwing flying monkey. Iis he from Oz? Just wondering if that ties into Ozma showing up and Fraun Totenheimer leaving.

Next issue is entitled Ozma, so you never know what we'll find out.

An interesting theory floating around is that Ozma is as responsible for Bufkin's scenario has Frau Totenkinder was for Flycatcher's during The Good Prince, manipulating someone from her own story into meeting her desired needs unsuspectingly.

"He reads. He reads everything."

I need that on a pin for work in my library.

Yeah, this is why my parents said raising me was hell in a good way - I read everything I got my hands on and ended up knowing about some things way before they thought I should. :)
