I love pre-Anakin Vader. People wrote him in so many different ways and yet they all seemed to work out reasonably well.

I'm too lazy to consult the Wookiepedia, but I'm pretty sure that Clat has been retroactively been considered Force-sensitive to explain his telepathic ability.
